Exploring Anza-Borrego's Mountains and Badlands

Like Caesar's Gaul, Anza-Borrego can be divided into three parts:

North — Solitude and scenery in the high country of the Santa Rosa Mountains and the canyons below.

Central — The creature comforts of Borrego Springs, the cooler mountains and valleys to the west, and picture-perfect badlands scenery to the east.

South — Fossils. Rough country, tailor-made for four-wheel-drive adventuring east of County Road S-2. Wildflowers, birding, and solitude in the mountains of the west.

It's these three parts of Anza-Borrego that this section is about. Take your pick: North, Central, or South.
