Beavertail Cactus, Opuntia basilaris

Photo showing the bright pink flower of a Beavertail Cactus, Opuntia basilaris.

One of the first cacti to blossom every spring, this cactus has pink flowers and no spines. Plants spread across and close to the ground rather than upward. The blue-gray color of the pads help to identify it. Beavertail is a prickly-pear.
