It's
called the arizona lupine but it grows abundantly in Southern California,
often by itself, away from other plants where it can spread out, but it also
turns up in the sandy soil next to highways.
The arizona lupine is San Diego County's most common lupine, but by no means is it our only lupine. Others to look for include bajada lupine, grape soda lupine, mountain springs bush lupine, coulter's lupine, and collar lupine.
Family: Fabaceae.
