Windmills, Allionia incarnata

Windmills, a member of the Four O'clock Family, is actually three flowers in one

While the desert sand-verbena is found in the sand, Windmills, likewise a trailing plant of the Four O'clock family, turns up on rocky slopes albeit in sandy soil. In the Spring of 2005, this cheerful little flower was one of the first plant to greet hikers on the Alcoholic Pass trail, and one of the last to go away as the heat of summer approached.
