Bigelow Monkeyflower (Mimulus bigelovii

Photo of a clump of low-growing red Bigelow Monkeyflowers

Often while walking in a sandy wash, you will come across one or two Bigelow's Monkeyflowers. These plants with their distinctive reddish flowers usually stand no more than six inches tall. The photo above, of a large clump of Bigelow's Monkeyflowers, is an exception.

Family: Scrophylariaceae.
