Personal and Sacred: II

Indian
rock painting was personal and often sacred art. Its exact meaning was known
only to the artist. When he died the secret of his art went with him. Some
natives spent their lives around hidden art but were allowed to see only
those drawings that their status or qualifications entitled them to see.
